SMPC's inaugural sustainability report wins 2 excellence awards in the Philippine Quill

Semirara Mining and Power Corporation (SMPC) was bestowed two excellence awards for its 2019 Annual and Sustainability Report (ASR) during the virtual 18th Philippine Quill Awards on March 25.

The 2019 ASR titled "Transcending Towards Sustainability" was conferred with Excellence Awards in the Publications and Writing categories under the Communication Skills Professional Entry division. SMPC’s inaugural integrated ASR is certified with the Global Reporting Initiative Standards Materiality Disclosures seal.

"The ASR testifies to our steadfast commitment to sustainability, at the same time, it strengthens our transparency and accountability through balanced disclosures material relevant to our valuable stakeholders," said SMPC President and Chief Operating Officer Maria Cristina C. Gotianun.

This year’s winners come from a cross-section of public and private sector organizations, with over 800 entries reviewed by esteemed evaluators from the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Philippines. The Excellence Award is bestowed to an entry with a final score of above 5.75 based on IABC’s 7-point scale.

The Philippine Quill is the country’s most prestigious awards program in the field of business communication, emphasizing the use of excellent communication to achieve business goals and to make a difference in society.
