QUALITY POLICY
SEMIRARA MINING & POWER CORPORATION strive to keep on increasing customer satisfaction and enhancing customer experience, through its highly-trained and motivated workforce, produces globally competitive coal that exceeds customer’s expectations and stakeholder’s confidence commits to:
- Establishing and reviewing Quality Objectives to ensure its relevance to business environment;
- Comply with all applicable legal, regulatory and standards to which we subscribe;
- Employ best practices in mining to maximize customer satisfaction and enhancing customer experience;
- Exceeds customer’s expectation through on-time delivery of quality coal at competitive price;
- Achieve operational excellence to maximize value for our stakeholders;
- Ensure continuity of critical business functions and processes in accordance with contractual, legal and our own business requirements;
- Develop competencies of our people in order to harness their full potentials and improve productivity; and
- Embed a culture of continual improvement in all its level of organization through engaging employees and involving them in improvement activities.
This policy shall be communicated to the entire corporate workforce as well as visitors and relevant and interested stakeholders. They are in turn, encouraged to report issues or concern that led to or will lead to issues and /or deviation from these commitments to the Management Team, without fear of repression, reprimand or intimidation.
ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT POLICY
SEMIRARA MINING & POWER CORPORATION believes that the host Environment is a valuable resource that needs to be protected and enriched and it recognizes environmental performance as a factor to its successful operations. Considering itself a member of the Semirara Island community, it commits to prevent, reduce or mitigate the impact of its operation and activities, and to contribute to sustainable economic development through environmental best practices.
To achieve this, we commit to;
- Comply with all compliance obligation and standards to which we subscribe.
- Employ best practices in mining to minimize environmental destruction and degradation, measuring and remediating impact of its operation and activities.
- Conserve, rehabilitate, and/ or apply mitigating measures in its operations and activities, particularly those impacting land, air, water, biodiversity, and other natural resources, so as not to endanger the host environment and community.
- Minimize generation of both domestic and industrial wastes, properly handling same, including hazardous materials, at all levels and all areas of operations.
- Continual improvement of its environmental management system and procedures, staying proactive in identifying environmental hazards and impacts to enhance company’s environmental performance.
- Adopting climate change mitigation to reduce company’s carbon footprint.
- Train on the company environmental policy, management system and procedures all employees and all working in its behalf to improve corporate environmental performance.
- Work with the host communities and various stakeholders including guests in promoting environmental sustainability where it operates.

SAFETY & HEALTH POLICY
Semirara Mining and Power Corporation, in its quest to promote the use of coal as major energy source, and to continue to remain as the undisputed leader in the coal mining industry in the Philippines, ensures a safe and healthy workplace for employees and all working in its behalf, visitors and the communities, and a safe and healthy environment for the community.
Semirara Mining and Power Corporation, committed for a continual improvement of safety, health and welfare of all its employees, and those working in its behalf, RECOGNIZES Human Resources as its best assets. The company is fully committed to protect these assets from on and off the job accidents, to maximize their potentials for the mutual benefit of the company and the workforce.
To achieve this commitment, Semirara Mining and Power Corporation shall:
ü Ensure safety, health and welfare of our employees and those working for us, as well as our visitors and stakeholders;
ü Provide a safe and healthful working environment, promote pride, self-confidence and an attitude to build a culture of safety among our employees, and all working in its behalf and nearby communities, with all necessary efforts;
ü Maintain, in a manner consistent with our safety and health policy, targets and objectives, out installations, equipment, processes and operations;
ü Continue to be proactive in identifying risks, and keeping same to a minimum through regular review and checking of processes, facilities and equipment to prevent untoward incidents;
ü Enhance awareness, skills and competence of all employees and those working in its behalf to effectively involve them in ensuring the safety and health of everyone;
ü Comply with all applicable legal and other requirements to which the company SUBSCRIBES.
The Safety and Health Policy shall be communicated to all employees and those working in its behalf, visitors, and made available to all interested parties. They are, in turn, encourage to report safety and health hazards, without fear of repression, reprimand or intimidation.

SEMIRARA MINING & POWER CORPORATION aims to provide lasting and positive contribution to the communities in which we operate through establishing and building mutually beneficial partnerships based on open, honest and constructive engagements. We commit ourselves to be a leader in our industry that understands the privilege of being welcomed and trusted by our host communities by:
- Engaging communities to understand their needs, concerns, and aspirations towards self-sufficiency and takes them into account in our decisions;
- Align our community investments to social and environmental interests of our host communities;
- Being transparent to our host communities about our operations social and environmental impacts or potential impacts as well as employ best practices in mining to reduce and mitigate such impacts;
- Partnership with host communities and offer sustainable benefits from our presence through job generation, business opportunities, and community investments;
- Comply with all applicable legal, regulatory and standards to which we subscribe;
- Encouraging our personnel to support our community commitments and investments, and identify ways to contribute their expertise to benefit our host communities; and
- Regular measurement and reporting of progress, impact and outcomes of our community activities, investments and partnerships.

Our compliance practices and standards continue to reflect the industry’s best practices, leading to recognition in the international stage. This 2017, following our successful transition in our coal mining operations, SMPC has passed conformance and was recommended for certification to the 2015 versions of ISO 9001 and ISO14001 on quality and environmental management systems, and a recertification of OHSAS18001:2007 on occupational health and management system by the external conformity assessment body, Governing Board of Certification International Philippines, Inc.
We have been ISO and OHSAS-certified for the past nine years.
The power operations of our subsidiaries, SEM-CALACA Power Corporation (SCPC) and Southwest Luzon Power Generation Corporation (SLPGC) are also certified to the same international standards of ISO 9001:2015, ISO14001:2015 and OHSAS 18001:2007 this year.
